Current Opportunities
We are currently seeking volunteers to assist at the FRONT DESK and in our MUSEUM STORE. We are also recruiting our new class of DOCENTS for the 2013-2014 school year – training will take place in late August.
How to Become a Volunteer
STEP 1
Complete the Volunteer Interest Form and City of Colorado Springs Adult Volunteer Application. Youth applicants apply here.
STEP 2
We will contact you to schedule an orientation at the museum.
STEP 3
Get involved! Start attending the monthly volunteer meetings and sign up for training opportunities. We’re looking forward to having you join our team!
Volunteer Positions
DOCENTS – We need you!
CSPM Docents (tour guides) lead tours and educational programming for youth and adults. We are currently recruiting new docents for the fall. Training will take place in late August. Docents are required to commit for one year of service and volunteer at least 6 hours a month.
FRONT DESK GREETERS - We need you!
Volunteers assist by staffing the front desk, greeting visitors, responding to visitor inquiries, and answering the phone. We are seeking volunteers who can make a weekly commitment for one of the following shifts: Tuesdays 10am to 1:30pm, Tuesdays 1:30 to 5pm, Wednesdays 10am to 1:30pm, Wednesdays 1:30 to 5pm, Thursdays 10am to 1:30pm, occassional Saturdays for both shifts.
MUSEUM STORE – We need you!
Volunteers assist in the museum store with point of sales, inventory, pricing, cleaning, helping guests, and merchandising. Store volunteers must commit to a weekly 3.5 hour shift.
RESEARCH & COLLECTIONS
Collection positions are very limited. Volunteers for this work must have a serious interest in the subject matter, and have a regular time commitment. Previous education in the subject is not required; however, the supervising archivist and research coordinator are willing to train the interested volunteer in doing the specialized research work. Any opportunities will be posted online.
YOUTH & FAMILY PROGRAMS
Program volunteers assist with a variety of hands-on activities for visiting school groups and families.
JUNIOR DOCENT PROGRAM
We are no longer accepting applications for the summer of 2013. Please check back in March 2014.
